The Writers' Bloc
5th - 8th May
Soviet Russia, 1937. Deflecting public attention away from his deadly purges, Joseph Stalin commissions a great book to be written. Five great writers are placed in a room with an infinite supply of vodka, cigarettes and fear. For each writer it is their last chance, and every word is loaded.
A fictional thriller based on the works of Yevgeny Zamyatin (We), Mikhail Bulgakov (The Master and Magherita), and Boris Pasternak (Dr Zhivago), The Writers’ Bloc mixes a tense blend of violence, comedy and physical theatre.
Written by Luke Ofield, produced by Unmasked Theatre (Trojan Women).
